Our trip to Utah

Joneses Hole walk.
mmmmm pork tenderloin
Tinker and Pepper Deso,
Ian and Diana Deso.
Ian and Diana on Ladore.
This is Nefertiti rock on Desolation Canyon.
We rowed by her on one of our last days on the Green River. We had two trips on the Green River the first was through Ladore Canyon of the Green. There were 14 of us on that trip organized by Pip Coe. Most poeple had worked with Pip at NOLS or were old friends. Pip turned 50 on the river so it was a celebratory trip. The next trip was on the Desolation Canyon portion of the Green - further south of Vernal where Ian and I flew into. The NOLS base in Vernal kindly allowed us to stay there and stage from the base there.
This is an amazing pizza Read made for us on Desolation Canyon. The Deso trip was 5 peopel Read McCullogh his mom Pepper and her cousin Tinker and Ian and I. Pepper and Tinker were celebrating their 70th year and were soooo.... much fun on the river.
Jones Hole walk.
mmmmm bean salad on Ladore. Pip organized all the amazing food for this trip we really ate well on both trips.
Steamboat Rock on Ladore
Ian being a Sherpa on Deso We borrowed Bob's horse shoes from the Ladore trip for Deso and we had a fun evening of horseshoes on the beach in the back in Pepper and Tinkers wall tent - luxury!
It was pretty hot on both trips here is Ian cooling off in the river which was a little more silty on the Deso portion because there was this big rain storm the night before we put on.
The colours on Deso.
The colours in the desert are so special and the quality of the air mmmm...
Here are Chris and Michele in the hidy hole caves on Ladore. We stopped at day use area and walked about 15 minutes to this spot there were larger caves and pictographs on the way.
The paddling on Ladore was great you can see why they called it the Green River in this photo.
This is Pip showing us how it is done! This is us out fitting the boats for Ladore. We had three rafts and two canoes and two kayaks on the trip. Ian and I were in a fun little canoe.
This is our campsite under the stars. We slept many nights under the stars without a tent.
So now we are back in PEI and fall is in the air. The colours are starting to show and there has been frost. But the cylcing is great. Ian and I will be here for a while it looks like with trips to LaHave because the house in LaHave is not rented and it kind of cuts into the resorces for travel. Till next time bye from PEI.

The bold Mink
Chris and Ian and BuddhaWest Pennant "wild life".
Chestnut canoe storage West Pennant
Hi All so the evening after Bill the hurricane that had more or less calmed by the time it hit Nova Scotia. We had lots of wind and rain but nothing like we have seen in the past - what we did have was nice surf waves!
A few days later there was another blow - we went into Halifax the next day and visited with Chis and Verity at the new house Summit Street which we had not seen since renovations - it is beautiful! Then we headed off to West Pennant and the property they have there. The waves were pretty good from the blow the night before too. We had a lovely walk around the property and on the coast. Saw a mink that came very close to us seem quite unconcerned.
We had dinner that evening with Jill and Mike and their family - wow Lobster!
Bye fore now

Fun on the farm

Ian's Father John breeds and trains Standardbred horses. Here he is taking Judy along on the morning jog.
The Smith clan came and visited Rustico Holiday Home. 'twas sooooo much fun, and we are excited because Ryan Smith will be of to Dawson City to attend KIAC for the season.
Trish Terris and Diana in Cavandish.
Ian's nephew's Ben and Sam at the horse races with us Bruce and Judy. Old Home Week PEI!
PEI Potato display at the fair
Judy and Bruce arrive and Inez and John meet Ben - it was HOT! so we sat in the shade.
Hi We have been busy! The Canada Summer Games brought Yukoners to PEI. Judy Forest and Bruce Barrett visited with the Pineau clan for a week while Ben was part of the Cultural Contingent with Canada Games. We had great fun, concerts horse races and the fair and beach time.
nice view of the LaHave
This is a church Ian and I had a walk through - it is for sale $130,00. listed. It is on the LaHave River with an amazing view. Lots of work though anyone interested in a challenge?
We are in LaHave working on the house which our tenant left the middle of August. We struggled with what to do. There are no new prospects currently to rent. We pondered selling as we put up a new shed and patched walls cleaned up the yard and generally enjoyed being in LaHave again. We love it here so we are trying a management firm to help with the rental. If it doesn't rent soon we may not be traveling as far as we hoped this year.
stay tuned.
bye for now
